ABOUT THE ROLE: The Design Assistant role is a multi-faceted position that exposes a person all key steps in creating clothing and a collection. Key skills needed are multi-tasking skills, follow-up skills, organizational skills as well as general computer skills (Microsoft Office suite as well as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign skills preferred)






  • Design Assistant role will report to Head of Design


    Responsibilities include helping Head of Design in all aspects of collection building, which includes inspiration research, sketching, and organizing concept boards


    Main tasks include building technical packages, which involves flat-sketching, garment detail preparation, and coordinating shipments/deliveries to factories. Aspects of launching garments include pulling for all necessary fabrics and trims for prototyping and sampling, tracking the bill of materials for each style, and liaising with pattern makers and factories to ensure deadlines are met.


    Participate in fittings to take notes and assist in all aspects of fitting – taking photos, uploading photos, maintaining digital fit folder library


    Design Assistant will be responsible for maintaining the design studio, which includes vintage garment archiving, design supply organization (patterns, trims, etc.) as well as tracking protos and developed muslins


    Maintain billing/invoicing for the Design department


    Assist with special projects as needed, including helping with fabric development, accessories development, embroidery, special capsules, and VIP orders


    Assist with shipping of packages of the Design department, which includes shipping samples, vintage, and prototypes to various partners


    The Design Assistant will also work very closely with the production department for the hand-off from development to production, passing off all details from sample development to production for garment costing.
