The Product Development Associate will assist the Product Development Manager with product line management during the development stage. The PD Associate will have ownership over the prototyping stage including calendar management, making BOMs and attending all fittings. The PD Associate will assist the PD Manager with SMS stage and ensuring all details are finalized before styles go into production. The PD team is comprised of a Director, Manager, Associate and Assistant. The PD Associate must be comfortable both giving and getting direction to ensure we meet all deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- schedule initial sketch pass offs with the design team and tech design team
- attend sketch pass off with PD manager
- work with PD manager and raw materials team to ensure factories have all fabrics and trims for proto making
- request fusible tests with third party for any new fabric qualities
- work with PD assistant to call out any styles we may need to do early dry clean testing
- launch proto requests with the factories
- handle daily communication with the factories throughout the proto process
- work with PD Director to reach out to factories for proto costing
- manage sample tracking for all prototypes and keep WIP chart updated
- check all protos against the BOM prior to fitting, call out any discrepancies to design/tech/factory
- attend all fittings and take notes on changes in the BOM, flag any changes that can impact costing to PD manager
- prepare linesheets and samples for Management Proto Review with the PD assistant
- assist PD manager with preparing BOMs for SMS requests
- assist PD manager with alterations after SMS are received
- update BOMs after tech design team fits the SMS with any changes
- assist production team with any BOM questions thorughout the production stage
- helping create and approve sampling POs
Skills:
- proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word)
- experience working with a PLM system
- knowledge of garment construction and sewing techniques
- knowlege of fabric and trims
- detail oriented and organized
- self starter
- enjoys working in a fast pace environment
