Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Redshift Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team and play a crucial role in the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of our Amazon Redshift data warehouse infrastructure. As a Senior Redshift DBA, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability, security, performance, and scalability of our data warehouse environment. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and manage database solutions that meet our business needs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Deployment and Configuration:-
* Lead the deployment of Amazon Redshift clusters, ensuring proper configuration, sizing, and setup based on project requirements.
* Manage data distribution and backup strategies to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery capabilities.
* Implement security measures, including access controls, encryption, and compliance with data protection regulations. Performance Optimization:
* Monitor and analyze the performance of Redshift clusters, identifying bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
* Implement performance tuning techniques, such as query optimization, indexing, and data distribution adjustments, to enhance query execution speed.
* Optimize Redshift data warehouse by implementing WLM Scalability and High Availability:
* Architect and implement solutions that allow for seamless scalability as data volumes grow.
* Configure and maintain Redshift clusters to ensure high availability and minimal downtime, implementing failover and backup strategies. Data Modeling and ETL:
* Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to design efficient data models that support business reporting and analytics needs.
* Assist in designing and optimizing ETL processes to ensure timely and accurate data loading. Automation and Monitoring:
* Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools for routine database administration tasks.
* Set up proactive monitoring and alerting systems to quickly identify and resolve performance or availability issues. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
* Maintain detailed documentation related to database architecture, configurations, and processes.
* Provide guidance and training to junior team members and other stakeholders to promote knowledge sharing and skill development. Collaboration and Communication:
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, analysts, and software developers, to align database solutions with business objectives.
* Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, providing updates on database performance, changes, and recommendations. User Management
* Create/ grant / maintain users and DB access

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
* Minimum 6-7 yrs of proven experience as a Redshift DBA, with in-depth knowledge of Amazon Redshift architecture, best practices, and performance tuning.
* Strong experience in database deployment, configuration, and maintenance.
* Proficiency in SQL and data modeling for analytical databases.
* Familiarity with ETL processes and data integration concepts.
* Solid scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, etc.).
* Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment is a plus.
