POSITION SUMMARY:

As an Assistant Designer for Men's Denim, you will be an essential part of the design team responsible for creating stylish and on-trend denim collections for men. Your role will involve providing support in the design process, conducting research, and contributing to the development of denim designs that align with the brand's vision, market trends, and customer preferences. Collaborating closely with the design team, you will play a significant role in elevating the brand's men's denim offerings and contributing to the overall success of the fashion line.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:

Design Support:
  • Collaborate with the design team to create sketches, illustrations, and technical drawings for men's denim garments, including jeans, jackets, and shorts.
  • Assist in brainstorming sessions and concept ideation to develop new and innovative denim designs.

Trend Research and Analysis:
  • Conduct research on denim trends, wash techniques, fabrications, and garment styles relevant to men's denim.
  • Stay updated with the latest market trends and customer preferences.

Material and Wash Selection:
  • Support the design team in sourcing and selecting suitable denim fabrics, washes, trims, and embellishments for garment prototypes and production.
  • Work closely with suppliers and product developers to ensure material availability and quality.

Tech Pack Creation:
  • Assist in creating detailed tech packs and design specifications for denim samples and production.

Sample Review and Fit Sessions:
  • Participate in sample reviews and fit sessions to provide feedback on the fit, construction, and design details of denim prototypes.

Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product developers and merchandisers, to ensure seamless execution of denim designs.
  • Effectively communicate design concepts and ideas to team members and stakeholders.

Brand Alignment:
  • Understand and maintain the brand's design aesthetic and language in all men's denim products.
  • Collaborate with the design team and brand team to ensure consistency in storytelling and branding across denim collections.

Trend Presentation:
  • Assist in preparing trend presentations and mood boards to inspire and inform the design process.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Experience:
  • 1+ years design experience in denim design would be preferred
  • Familiarity with construction techniques, denim wash, and garment construction
  • Previous experience or internships in fashion design, preferably with a focus on women's denim or a related category.


Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent in Fashion Design. Concentration in denim


Skills:

  • Knowledge of design software and tools like Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Passion for fashion, creativity, and a keen eye for denim trends and aesthetics.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and meet project deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively present ideas.


RESOURCEFULNESS/CREATIVITY:

This is a creative position requiring strong familiarity with denim development and garment construction. Must be able to take direction and follow through with the work efficiently. Foresee and trouble-shoot any issues along the way with the guidance of the Design Director Denim. Ability to multi-task, think outside the box, be open-minded and optimistic.

Pay Range:
PVH currently provides base salary ranges for all positions-on job advertisements-in the United States based on local requirements. These ranges are based on what PVH reasonably believes that it will pay an associate for their base salary for said position at the time of the posting.
