Senior Garment Technician, within Production Department - Maternity Cover

Company Overview:

SALONI is an independent contemporary woman’s fashion brand launched in 2010 which is headquartered in London with an office in Hong Kong. The company has built a strong international wholesale business (particularly in the USA) and has a successful and growing Direct to Consumer business through its own website.

Position Overview:

Working within the London studio the Senior Garment Tech will be an integral part of our small Production team, working closely with the Design, Development and Atelier teams.

The role will support the Production team from the salesman sample handover to delivery. Working across all Saloni categories - Dresses, Skirts, Tops, Trousers, and Outerwear.

Fantastic organisational and communication skills are essential, you will be working within a fast-paced environment where we produce up to six collections per annum.

Key Responsibilities:

• Updating and maintaining technical specs, including: measurements, materials, garment construction and finishings.
• Lead fittings, working with Design, Atelier and Production departments to ensure best fit and garment construction.
• Measuring and preparing garments for fittings.
• Work closely with our in house Atelier, concerning pattern amendments, garment construction and finishings.
• Liaise with manufacturers regarding fit comments and spec requirements.
• Approve graded spec charts, monitoring correct and consistent grade rules.
• Training and motivating junior members of the team.
• Support with fabric and trim sourcing and approvals.
• Assist with product queries, from wholesalers and customers.
• Full awareness of the critical path.
• Maintaining and nurturing supplier relationships.

Qualifications and Skills:

• An excellent knowledge of pattern cutting, garment construction and manufacturing techniques.
• Exceptional eye for detail to consistently ensure the correct technical documentation is used and followed.
• Professional and clear communication skills; both verbal and written to work productively alongside internal teams and external suppliers.
• Efficiently work within a fast-paced environment which requires great work ethic and flexibility.
• Key computer skills: Excel, Adobe Illustrator and In Design.

Experience:

• A candidate with previous experience working in a Production department, at a womenswear brand. Premium or luxury brand experience preferred.
