Established creative studio and brand is looking for an experienced, senior designer to lead expansion into bags and accessories.

The new bags division is a start-up culture; perfect for a natural leader and self-starter with a utilitarian, stylized design approach.  This role will be responsible for designing and leading a small team to deliver concepts from ideation to the market.

Stand-out candidates will demonstrate a focused, artistic vision in line with the studio’s brand, paired with a disciplined ability to see products through the design development + production processes from start to finish. A comprehensive background in fashion and accessories is required. Strong candidates will have a passion for contemporary streetwear fashion of all kinds and expert knowledge of the current luggage + handbag competitive landscapes.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Work closely with founding partners to establish the artistic vision for the new soft bag division
  • Develop a long-term, strategic plan for the division
  • Design a seasonal collection of bags and accessories aligned with artistic vision + strategic plan
  • Research, identify, and integrate emerging trends into designs, where appropriate
  • Utilize ergonomics, function, materiality, and aesthetics knowledge in product design
  • Work closely with PD to set and maintain the design budgets + P&Ls
  • Work closely with other department leads to set up, manage, and adhere to workflow processes + calendars
  • Build, mentor, and manage a design team, as the division grows
  • Willingness to help shape and improve company practices + culture  


  • 10+ years of fashion/accessories design experience
  • 5+ years of experience managing a design team
  • Expertise in materials and construction, including hardware + trim
  • Highly adept at time management and working to maintain deadlines
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design preferred
  • Previous PLM experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship management skills
  • Strong emotional intelligence
  • Willingness to work 3 days/week (minimum) in a Manhattan office (required)
  • Knowledge/proficiency using Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite/Illustrator/ CAD, Figma

Salary: $160,000-$180,000
