Ethical Trade Manager - Solutions

Reports to:
Senior Ethical Trade Manager (Bangladesh & Pakistan)
Location: Bangladesh
We aim to deliver amazing fashion at amazing prices to Primark customers, whilst maintaining the highest levels of rigour, protecting the people who make our products, ensuring social, environmental and structural compliance. We operate as 'one team' with the rest of the business.
The role will develop and deliver a structured portfolio of programmes, partnerships and interventions in Bangladesh and Pakistan to build a Human Rights Due Diligence framework, decent work and drive the Primark Care indicators helping to reduce human rights-related risk across the supply chain.
The role has oversight of the design, development, implementation and evaluation of multiple programmes and partnerships in both factories and lower tiers of the supply chain including remediation of critical short-term issues and longer-term systematic change.

What You'll Do
  • Contribute to the development of the Bangladesh and Pakistan ET/ES country strategies based on country level mapping of human-rights risk and alignment to centrally driven approaches on key human rights issues and Primark Cares commitments across issues such as Financial Resilience, Women's Empowerment, Health and Wellbeing, decent work and living wage
  • Build learnings from the monitoring and remediation programme into the design of longer-term, proactive, capacity building approaches and initiatives to improve mitigation of social compliance risk and build positive social impact across the supply chain.
  • Support the Solutions team to design, manage and monitor projects across key human rights-related issues
  • Proactively engage with central teams to both inform the development of global approaches on key thematic issues and ensure alignment of the Bangladesh/Pakistan portfolio with these global approaches.
  • Drive a focus on continuous improvement and best in class Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) approaches across the portfolio.
  • Responsible for coordinating and quality controlling all inputs (data and information) to corporate reporting and communications across the social impact and remediation portfolios. Understand central corporate reporting requirements and build relevant processes and systems within the Bangladesh team to deliver as required.


We are looking for someone who has:
  • Project management experience in complex contexts across multiple issues; including remediation of poorly performing projects and MEL (monitoring, evaluation and learning)
  • Excellent problem solving, strategic thinking and planning skills
  • Understanding of the most salient human rights issues in global garment supply chains and international frameworks for understanding the role and responsibilities of business (e.g. the UNGPs and HRDD) and experience in applying these issues to drive progress in the RMG sector in Bangladesh.
  • Knowledge of relevant legal regulation on issues such as Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Child Labour and Workplace Safety and their application to delivery training and capacity building programmes across the supply chain.
  • Experience of developing and implementing capacity building and remediation partnerships and programmes related to social compliance and human rights-related issues across the supply chain.
  • Experience in overseeing a complex and diverse project and partnership portfolio.
  • Understanding of how to measure progress through design and application of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) frameworks.
  • Managing teams.
