Position Summary: As the Product Development Manager of Footwear you will lead, manage and execute the footwear development process, utilizing advanced product and manufacturing process knowledge. This position requires to be a hands-on, creative problem solver with high proficiency managing multiple projects. This role will report to the Sr. Director of Product Development, Footwear & Accessories


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Partner with the design team to create seasonal footwear collections that satisfy aesthetic, cost, functionality, delivery and manufacturing requirements.
  • Lead and facilitate timely end-to-end product creation, delivery, and approval of all relevant technical information (patterns, 3D files, lasts, patterns, blue-prints, etc)
  • Build and distribute the development tech packages to oversea vendors ensuring information is concise for successful interpretation on the needs prior to hand-off
  • Pro-actively problem-solve by identifying issues and presenting solutions and options to design team coworkers as well as manufacturing partners.
  • Review and evaluate project status with the external suppliers and internal cross functional teams (design, PD, merch) with focus on mold processes, materials, , manufacturing processes and end use performance
  • Manage sample delivery to ensure all meeting dates are hit.
  • Shepherd the product development/manufacturing calendar and processes, with the goal of improving product accuracy at market and reduce commercialization lead time.
  • Attend prototype, pre-production and BOM meetings to drive the decision-making process and achieve departmental goals.
  • Effectively evaluate leathers and materials for physical characteristics to specify appropriate materials for the product and ensure quality, functionality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Track / process raw material orders with suppliers for sampling


Position Requirements:

  • 6-8 years of experience in footwear product operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree.
  • Fundamental understanding of footwear constructions, costing, fit, calendar management, material applications and product testing.
  • Extensive experience working with overseas factories and suppliers in Asia and in Europe.
  • Possess footwear development and manufacturing working knowledge to interpret design needs, anticipate potential issues and implement solutions as necessary.
  • Effective cross functional collaborator to drive product focuses decisions that achieve on time delivery, target costs, and appropriate functionality/quality.
  • Outstanding follow-through skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, organization and multi-tasking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook. Experience in RLM is preferred.

In compliance with the New York City salary transparency requirements, the potential salary for this position is from $90,000 to $95,000, which represents a range commensurate with experience, knowledge, and skills required.
