What does your team do:

Design the Tommy Hilfiger underwear and lounge men’s and womenswear line that is relevant and commercially successful, showing a clear understanding of the Tommy Hilfiger brand identity and vision. Design and develop a cohesive collection that can meet the various needs of the Global market. The team collaborate with the wider bodywear design team, product development and merchandising teams to create the collection.

Position Description and Key Responsibilities:

Reporting into the Senior Design Director Underwear Tommy Hilfiger Global. This role will be responsible for the vision of concept, colour and trend direction for Tommy Hilfiger Underwear and Loungewear, working closely with the Senior Design Director to lead the brand vision. This role will have 4 direct reports.

What we expect you to bring to the team:

  • Research seasonal/trend concepts, materials, hardware and colour stories. Collate into mood boards to present back to Senior Design Director and team
  • Translating market trends and corporate briefs into the underwear aesthetic for the Tommy Hilfiger DNA
  • Enable and implement the seasonal Direction of the category according to market trends, ensuring consistency though products and ranges
  • Conceptualize and design ranges in the specific category and manage the creation process of the line range.
  • Manage, set goals, monitor progress, offer help and critique work for all direct reports
  • Steer and coach team members and their creative processes and drive development of direct reports
  • Ensure the correct execution of Corporate Identity guidelines and against legal restrictions within the team
  • Create professional level presentations of ideas; from loose sketch to detailed renderings to digital presentation
  • Ensure an efficient process and communication flow between design, merchandising and development for all issues regarding the products designed by the team
  • Ensure proper handover of product design to the product development department and development sources. Main duty is to submit all relevant information needed for the development process such as original design, colour indication, execution information, and design parts sizes
  • Work directly with suppliers and buying offices to ensure clarity of product development and through to final samples, in collaboration with in-house product development team
  • Industry knowledge of market margins
  • Work effectively to meet deadlines for the Divisional Calendar
  • Inspirational and market research trips (Globally)

The Ideal Candidate

What we expect you to have:

All applicants must apply with a relevant and up to date colour, concept and trend portfolio 

  • Previous experience in men and women’s underwear design , minimum of 8 – 10 years’ experience
  • 3+ years in people management
  • Bachelor degree (B.A.) from college or university in design or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • In depth knowledge of colour, concept, materials and trends specifically tailored to the underwear and loungewear markets
  • Ability to work in creative environment, to handle pressure, to work on multiple tasks under tight deadlines yet able to provide high quality work result
  • Extensive knowledge designing with Illustrator, Photoshop, Keynote and PLM
  • Strong hand sketching skills with understanding of scale and perspective
  • Team player, yet able to work independently when needed
  • Embrace the hands on, active, problem solving, open minded, dynamic, fun and fast pace environment
  • Flexible to travel
  • Not a 9 to 5 mentality, especially at peak design time
  • Fluent in English, excellent communication written and verbal
