About Us

Sea is designed and co-founded by childhood friends, Sean Monahan and Monica Paolini. The duo came together in 2009 to combine Sean’s business background with Monica’s design experience to create the New York based brand. In 2013 Sea was inducted in the Council of American Fashion Designers (CFDA).

Sea is designed for the effortless, optimistic, romantic, and boyish modern woman through its spirited and wearable collections. The brands perspective combines elements of harmonizing prints, playful hues, delicate embroideries, eyelets, and lace to create a one-ofa-kind collections.

Fabric direction sets the tone each season with fabrics sourced from around the world; coming together to tell a story and speaking to the various dimensions of the modern Sea woman. The brand is particularly well known for its use of lace, embroidery, denim, knitwear, and technical fabrics combined with avant-garde shapes, classic silhouettes that are updated and reimagined, and signature seasonless styles unique to the brand.

Utilitarian inspired jumpsuits, romantic dresses, structured cotton poplin shirting, wool trench coats, embroidered and embellished knitwear, Victorian lace blouses, masculine inspired trousers form the playful and dynamic collection that is distinctive to the brand.

Sea remains true to its design sensibility and does not follow seasonal trends; instead choosing to focus on expanding the language of the brand by refining and reinventing styles and introducing new shapes and fabrics that all maintain the core DNA of the brand.
