Job Description

Director, Site Merchandising - Tommy Hilfiger

The Director, Site Merchandising is responsible for the creation and execution of the Tommy.com’s digital merchandising strategies, goals, and objectives for North America. The role partners with the DMM, Full-Price Omnichannel on the development and execution of key product strategies, and with the Director, eCommerce Media in designing the supporting marketing and promotional activities to drive the business. The role also partners with the Ecommerce Content Editor to develop product line stories to maximize the commercial potential of Tommy.com.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with VP, eCommerce and Tommy.com Directors team on company and divisional objectives, executing top level strategic initiatives with direct reports
  • Partner with Merchandising/Planning team to create & execute merchandise strategy to meet financial goals
  • Collaborate with Planning to develop effective line and category plans, pricing strategies, and execute along the appropriate lines of business
  • Responsible for partnering with Ecommerce Content Editor to identify most impactful commercial storytelling with existing assets, and creation of new content campaigns to support key lines of business
  • Partner with the Director, eCommerce (and team) to support online growth and testing opportunities
  • Take lead role in senior management meetings (business review meetings, monthly OTB, etc), presenting in-depth analysis of respective departments and classifications; must be able to sell and validate point of view with facts and analysis
  • Develop and execute strategies utilizing knowledge based on analysis of business and competitive set, and consumer insights
  • Consistently monitor and evaluate competitive and industry trends; translate into innovative, relevant, fashion-forward product and promotional plans
  • Foster strong relationship with Site Merchandising leadership of other regions, to prioritize global alignment while also maximizing commercial potential within North America
  • Train, lead and develop team of Site Merchandisers, serving as the leader of the business, while simultaneously allowing team and cross functional partners the creative freedom and opportunities to act as the managers of their individual departments
  • Foster an environment of continual training and development
  • Co-management of sample budget, product photography budget, content development budget; Influence over Site Enhancement budget
  • Wide scope of decision making, including strategic priorities, site merchandising strategies, content development prioritization, technical improvement prioritization

The Ideal Candidate

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; MBA preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in premium E-Commerce and/or Retail
  • Retail Industry and E-Commerce experience preferred
  • Vertical retailing experience preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current fashion/retail trends
  • Ability to introduce innovative business ideas to partners and stakeholders
  • Prior management experience required; must have experience in successfully developing talent
  • Proven ability to identify and quickly react to shifting behaviors and trends in digital commercial engagement
  • Proven ability to effectively gain alignment and socialize innovation across a highly-matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated success in being an internal digital champion
  • Demonstrated desire and ability to work effectively at both the strategic and tactical execution levels
  • Executive presence and strong presentation skills to interact with senior level management
  • Strong strategic and quantitative skills
  • Proven experience with dynamic site merchandising software; Commerce Insights preferred
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Must be: able to handle multiple projects with adherence to deadlines; highly organized; able to work independently as well as on group projects; self-motivated and confident with some decision making
  • Must have the ability to manage up, down and across with positive results
  • Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, premium fashion environment
  • Desire to innovate quickly as part of a nimble, entrepreneurial team within an iconic, established American brand
