Job Description

Reporting to the COO, you will be responsible for driving business within the North America region: creating consumer demand with innovative marketing, increasing sales & profitability, maintaining brand image and ensuring in-store service standards consistently meet or exceed customer expectations both in retail and wholesale doors.

You will oversee both the retail and wholesale businesses in North America  and will need to balance the requirements of both.

The role requires someone who is an ambitious self-starter who likes working in an environment where taking initiative is not only valued but is expected, and has the ability to seek, suggest and implement growth opportunities within the agreed strategy.

Key Responsibilities Leadership

  • Provide strong leadership of the US office and team
  • Active participant in the global leadership team
  • Demonstrate a willingness to be immersed in the MV culture and model behaviours appropriately
  • Ensure that MV cultural behaviours are embraced and followed
  • Operate as a key frontline representative and escalation point for the brand in the region both internally and externally

Market Management and Marketing

  • Develop market and marketing strategies for North America including leading the localization of the global brand equities and marketing plans
  • Build and share deep market knowledge/insights around consumer taste/preferences, expected market trends, competitive landscape and channel dynamics by effective use of primary and secondary research
  • In conjunction with global marketing, oversee and recommend local marketing plans and budgets
  • Ensure brand identity and customer focused strategy is maintained by overseeing the execution of brand/marketing/PR campaigns and initiatives in the region

Sales and Distribution

  • Develop a deep understanding of the US jewellery retail and brand landscape
  • Develop and lead the distribution strategy for North America, including metro market priorities, channel mix between retail / wholesale & offline / online, key accounts selection and POS selection
  • Drive sales through all channels (retail, wholesale and online)
  • Manage retail operations to deliver exceptional experiences and customer service for our consumers
  • Identify and project manage the development of new boutiques
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with major customers and leverage relationships to grow sales
  • Identify and project manage location moves/expansions within Department Stores
  • Conduct frequent field visits to assess and improve quality of POS execution
  • Drive profitability by improving efficiency and leveraging overheads

North America Operations

  • Plan, launch and manage satellite operations in region, including: Customer Care Team; repairs options and facilities, and (where required) web deliveries and returns

Planning, Reporting & Budget

  • Manage the regional P&L
  • Ensure activities in the region are within budget and costs are controlled
  • Analyse and review the financial performance of the retail and wholesale businesses in the region
  • Analyse and review events, programs and promotions in the region and provide insightful and costed recommendations to stakeholders for future activity.
  • Produce insight reports to review and document learnings
  • Continually monitor competitor strategy and activities

Management and Talent Development

  • Communicate effectively to all of the team and ensure communication flows quickly and accurately through the team and across the business
  • Provide continual coaching and development to your direct reports, to enable them to grow and improve
  • Challenge the status quo and continually push for action and quick issue resolution
  • Constantly think and plan for your team’s expansion. Ensure the team is resourced correctly to allow the demands of the growing business
  • Attract, develop and retain exceptional sales and marketing talent

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 10+ years experience of marketing and / or sales experience in a consumer industry
  • 5+ years experience of managing a sales & marketing team
  • Deep knowledge of the US consumer and retail landscape
  • Experience of both retail operations and wholesale distribution
  • Experience of digital and social media marketing
  • Previously built and managed a highly performing team
