We are looking for a Head of Production who can develop the brand’s production capabilities and operations and execute the production schedules for BOTTLETOP’s seasonal collections and the #TOGETHERBAND campaign. This will include owning and managing all aspects of production, working with BOTTLETOP’s own artisanal production facilities and partner groups.BOTTLETOP has a strong brand identity and heritage; with significant potential to grow the brand with consumers seeking sustainable fashion, ethical & artisanal production, and luxury lifestyle brands. The ultimate goal for BOTTLETOP is to be the world’s leading sustainable luxury brand in the eyes of consumers. In Q2 2019 we launch a high profile 17 month campaign to raise awareness of the Global Goals called #TOGETHERBAND with the UN. The campaign is centred around a sustainably made friendship bracelet which will be promoted globally by 1700 globally renowned influencers and ambassadors, with monthly live events at cultural moments around the world. BOTTLETOP produces its core collection at our own atelier in Salvador, Brazil; providing training and employment for local artisans. We also work with partner organisations and producers that share our approach to sustainability and ethical production. The Head of Production will need to bring a rigorous approach to product development, production management, operations, and logistics, whilst being adaptable to the challenges that present themselves in operating in the developing world. The Head of Production will require exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to succeed in the role. Strength in developing production strategy and planning to implement BOTTLETOP’s product strategy and calendar will be necessary; as well as an ability to tactically problem solve to keep production plans on schedule The Head of Production will be responsible for delivering all seasonal collections, special projects, and product collaborations; working closely with our design team and sales channels to optimise the product range and inventory management. The role will include working with existing material suppliers and identifying new suppliers of leading edge sustainable materials.

The ideal candidate will have experience in managing production in the fashion industry; with a track record of growing production volumes in a previous role. The role requires a highly motivated and results orientated individual who takes an entrepreneurial approach to achieving goals and driving growth.The role covers the following areas:

Production Operations

  • Lead engagement with BOTTLETOP atelier and production partner groups; establishing production processes, leading ongoing artisan training initiatives, and determining approach to artisan engagement and support
  • Establish and monitor social impact strategy and targets
  • Build product team to support growth of brand, defining the future operating model and hiring new team members as required
  • Support production audit activities with third party audit groups and drive continuous improvement plans that address findings

Production Planning

  • Work with BOTTLETOP designers and leadership to drive product development and sampling activities
  • Own the sampling process for new products and manage rounds of development and ultimate sign off to move to production
  • Lead new materials research, development, and procurement; with a key focus on sustainable and up-cycled materials
  • Create and maintain production strategy and plan for BOTTLETOP range plan
  • Build BOTTLETOP production capacity by leading growth planning for in house atelier and partner organisations
  • Build detailed product costings to support product pricing decisions; monitoring product margins
  • Creating the detailed quarterly budget and plan

Production Scheduling

  • Establish and manage production schedules for BOTTLETOP collections, special projects, and collaborations
  • Drive continuous improvement activities with Salvador Atelier and production partners to drive product quality improvements and production efficiencies
  • Manage material supply chain for production centres; establishing supplier relationships
  • Monitor material inventories for production centres to ensure availability whole minimising
  • Track and report on production schedule progress

Production Logistics

  • Establish logistics strategy to minimise costs and reduce environmental impact
  • Build effective logistics network of agents, shippers, and distributers to support BOTTLETOP production centres and market strategy
  • Own product shipping schedule to support launch timelines and sales channel needs
  • Communicate shipping timetables to sales channel leads and key partners

The Ideal Candidate

Who we’re looking for? The successful candidate will have the following experience:

  • At least 5 years production management experience in a luxury or contemporary accessory or fashion
  • Ideal experience in managing artisanal group production
  • Proven track record in building production capacity for growing brands or start ups
  • Demonstrated experience in material research, sourcing, and management of product development end to end.
  • Experience in establishing new production centres in different parts of the world

And the following skills:

  • Strong project management and exceptional organisational skills; managing multiple production streams concurrently
  • Strong creative and entrepreneurial skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines 
  • Strong commercial acumen

About Us

The BOTTLETOP Foundation was launched in 2002 by Cameron Saul and his father Roger (Founder of British luxury fashion brand Mulberry) through a design collaboration with Mulberry. At the heart of the campaign was a handbag made from recycled bottle tops in Africa that was lined with Mulberry leather in Europe. The bestselling design was heralded as a sensation by the international fashion press, generating local employment and raising vital funds for grass-roots education projects in Africa.The BOTTLETOP fashion company was founded in 2012 by Oliver Wayman and Cameron Saul. It designs and creates collections featuring the finest sustainably sourced and up-cycled fashion accessories in developing parts of the world. The main hub for the production of BOTTLETOP goods is at the atelier in Salvador, Brazil, where the brand has been working for over ten years; developing its own signature materials and production techniques. BOTTLETOP is also producing collections in Nepal, Bali and Kenya through a similar lens with regards to its social and environmental impact. BOTTLETOP funds the operation of the BOTTLETOP Foundation whilst also using contemporary art and music to raise funds and awareness for education projects that tackle delicate teenage health issues such as HIV/AIDS, drug abuse and teenage pregnancy.
