Job Description

The VP, Product Development, Accessories will be responsible for the product development and sourcing of the handbag and accessories lines.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategy for both short term and long terms and be proactive to changing environments
  • Develop strong working relationships with any agents, supply team offices and direct vendors used to source product and develop sourcing strategy with them to achieve all division fiscal goals
  • Key liaison to design, merchandising and production. Proactively communicate cross functionally with partners and facilitate pass off from development to production
  • Create and manage top line development calendars to meet all critical milestone dates from design inception to delivery of SMS.
  • Partner with production and supply team office for costing and factory allocation to ensure all product categories are in the correct balance of factories based on price, quality and volume
  • Create and execute sourcing efficiencies to consolidate vendor base, insure volume pricing with factories for both handbags and accessories and their the respective categories
  • Implement group material buys to negotiate volume prices for commodities working with production and supply team office
  • Attend proto and costing meetings for both handbags and accessories to act as the point person for major issues; identify issues that may impact pricing targets and quality standards
  • Ensure margin goals for handbags and accessories are met or exceeded by working with factories, as well as design and production to bring in line to margin when profit is short of plan
  • Responsible to achieve target pricing and manage go-in margins as well as line item dept. budget expense
  • Broad decision making for anything associated with the actual development of the product

The Ideal Candidate

Qualifications:

  • College degree required; Fashion Merchandising, a plus
  • 8-10+ years experience in the product development and sourcing of accessories required
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to think strategically and implement tactically
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • MS Office skills (incl. Excel), MS Outlook
  • Ability to learn custom computer systems
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects with adherence to deadlines

  • Creates procedures to improve operation efficiency

  • Detail oriented/innovative traits necessary

  • Must be able to find best solutions and developing methods to improve efficiency

  • Must be flexible to adapt to changing trends of business and projects

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing business priorities.
  • International and domestic travel is required
  • Off-shift hours as needed
