About Us

Founded in Brussels in 1829, Delvaux is the oldest luxury leather luxury goods house in the world and has been active without interruption since its beginnings.

Official purveyor to the Royal Court of Belgium since 1883, in 1908, Delvaux filed the first ever handbag patent, becoming the inventor of the modern handbag.

Since the end of the 19th century, Delvaux has participated in the changing lifestyles of the European and has played an important role in writing the history of fine leather goods.

In 1933, Delvaux became the first Maison to create seasonal collections, combining shapes and colours, similar to the way in which Couture houses did at the time.

Since its creation, la Maison has been both avant-garde and true to the finest traditions of craftsmanship while conveying the heritage and symbols of Belgian culture.

With exceptional mastery, Delvaux constantly breathes new life into its archive collections that boast a legacy of over 3,000 handbags.

In 2011, First Heritage Brands, led by Jean–Marc Loubier, acquires the Maison. With the greatest respect for its roots, the relaunch started with investing significantly in the workshops, creation, people and organisation, as well as the international operations of Delvaux’s direct store network, each one of them being unique.

In 2019, Delvaux’s network is comprised of more than 45 boutiques worldwide including Europe, Asia and North-America.

Delvaux is considered amongst the most emblematic handbag houses and is a rare and successful international luxury brand.
