Job Description

Alexander McQueen is looking for a Store Planning Manager to join their close-knit team based in the London Head Office. We are looking for some one from a luxury or retail background with experience of in-house store planning. This person would ideally have an Architect qualification or equivalent and be technically. This role will be working with the Store planning director, alongside a small team of store planning managers, the role will have exposure to the artistic Director the Executive board and other key stakeholders within the business.

Key Responsibilities

Design & project management for directly operated, wholesale, pop-ups and showroom.

Design tasks:

  • Inception reports, collecting all the information preliminary to the design (survey, photos, local constraints, technical & commercial briefs) through local visit and/or local partners coordination
  • Preliminary Design proposals with commercial, budget and timing constraints and briefs
  • Design presentation through Artistic Director / Board in order to get the approvals priory to production
  • Final design production / coordination accordingly to the feasibility check and budget constraints
  • Responsible for managing all stakeholders, communicating designs with cross-functional teams
  • Responsible for the coordination of light design
  • Design submission and follow-up through local partners
  • Responsible for the coordination, production and approval of prototypes
  • Responsible for design value engineering
  • Oversee and sign off as appropriate on construction drawings
  • Manage and support with quality assurance throughout the store projects until opening
  • Final production list and follow-ups

Cost control tasks:

  • Cost forecast during feasibility phase, in order to propose a feasible capital expenditure budget to the Board and to the Group
  • Budget analysis and constant management throughout the design and build phase
  • Collaborate with the Retail Financial Controller to ensure close follow up of budgets
  • Produce tender documentation, coordinate bids and analyse local partners
  • Budget analysis and comparison with comparable projects
  • Assistance in the production of the Maintenance / operational budget

Planning control/coordination of execution:

  • Applications: check of all the applications prior to the submission to Local Authorities (including but not limited to Landlords and Councils)
  • Collecting the construction information and upgrades (site pictures, weekly report), presenting status to team and senior management as appropriate
  • Control of the Project Milestones status
  • Undertake regular construction site visits, producing reports and communicating actions as appropriate; in coordination of the local PMs
  • Snagging list and following-up / closure overview
  • Prepare weekly updates and report (quality, timing, costs) on running projects for Managers / Executives
  • Maintain the store planning project tracker
  • Research of new local materials, suppliers and consultants
  • Capex optimisation solutions
  • Assist in the development of the construction manual
  • Local vendor scouting
  • Opex technical budget assistance with local team
