Job Description

Reporting to the SVP, Strategic Sourcing witha dotted line into the VP – Global Transportation & Trade Compliance, the Sr.Director Strategic Sourcing – Global Supply Chain leads and develops a team ofStrategic Sourcing professionals supporting the end-to-end sourcing needs of GapInc.’s Global Supply Chain. This includes all areas of Global Transportation,including Origin/ ConsolidationServices, Inbound Ocean and Air Freight Forwarding, Customs Brokerage, DomesticGround Operations [TL, LTL, Rail], 3PL/ Store Delivery Services, Parcel [Directand Non-Direct] Operations, Specialized/ Non-Merchandise Freight. In addition to Transportation, the SrDirector will lead Strategic Sourcing for Fulfillment, Facilities, Construction,Store Supplies and Energy/Waste/Sustainability.

This role will lead a function that managesin excess of $1.5B in annual spend through category strategies, negotiating contracts(approximately 300 annually) and managing supplier relationships. The Sr. Directoris responsible for developing strong and effective business partnerrelationships with external service providers as well as key internalstakeholders, and integrates with operational business leaders to form on-goingstrategic partnerships. This leader isrequired to leverage professional partnerships (internal & external) tostay informed of key industry best practices and trends and with otherRetailers within the industry to form collaborative networking opportunities.The Sr. Director is responsible for developing the leadership and coachingskills of the managers on their team and across the department. This positionwill contribute to the long-term strategies related to Global Supply Chain andwill sit on the Global Transportation Leadership and Strategic Sourcing Leadershipteams.

What you'll do

  • Build effective strategic relationships andsuccessfully partner across varied functions and levels with senior internalstakeholders, external suppliers, agencies and colleagues to drive results andinfluence change
  • Develop Category/Sourcing Strategies insupport of business function’s Long Range Plans
  • Accountable for negotiating and executingcontracts in excess of $1.5B in annual supply chain spend
  • Own the development and execution of best-practicestrategies and business continuity plans
  • Coach and develop team on both technical andsoft skills; Build a strong functional operating team, developing talent andfuture leaders
  • Sit on the Global Transportation Leadership Team (GTLT) contributing to short and long term strategies
  • Ensure Gap Inc.’s reputation for legal,regulatory, and fiduciary responsibility and ethical conduct are directed intothe optimization of the Gap Inc. global transportation network
  • Benchmark with other Retailers within the SupplyChain industry to form collaborative networking opportunities
  • Build effective relationships with strategic suppliersand all other entities required to drive results and influence change
  • Execute / maintain multi-year contractualagreements that leverage Gap Inc.’s scale and long-term interests in meeting /exceeding service and cost objectives
  • Leverage analysis and experience to scope andprioritize new sourcing opportunities and make recommendations to seniorleadership

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain current working relationships and networking with large carriers and Logistics Service providers
  • Knowledgeable on the regulatory and legal aspects of rates and economics of transportation services, costs, operations, and negotiations
  • Previous Retail experience preferred

Minimum Experience:

  • 10 years+ experience in global Transportation Procurement/ Sourcing and/or Operations
  • 7 – 10 years professional experience leading others required
  • Understanding of general Transportation regulatory concepts/ requirements

Minimum Educational Level:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or related field or equivalent industry experience
  • MBA, MSIE, CSMP or other relevant advanced degree preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel 10% - 20%+ [as the business dictates]
  • Based in San Francisco, CA [team members located in SF, Cincinnati, NYC and Hong Kong]
