The American designer and stylist for Lady Gaga launched his eponymous label in 2015. Two seasons and a CFDA Swarovski Award later, his designs have been worn by the likes of Karlie Kloss , Gwyneth Paltrow and Reese Witherspoon.
Maxwell grew up in Longview, Texas and studied photography at St. Edward’s University in Austin. After interning for stylist Deborah Afshani, he went on to work with Edward Enninful before getting a job with Nicola Formichetti in 2010. Two years later, he became Lady Gaga’s fashion director.
In 2015, Maxwell established his ready-to-wear label, which is designed and produced in New York City. The brand launched an advertising campaign for its second season, Autumn/Winter 2016, shot by Maxwell and featuring a diverse group of models including Blanca Padilla, Herieth Paul, Leila Nda and Riley Montana.
Several notable models and Hollywood actresses are already loyal customers: Lady Gaga, Doutzen Kroes, Iman and Jennifer Lawrence frequently sport Maxwell’s signature powersuits and structural tailoring on the red carpet.
Maxwell was one of eight shortlisted designers for the LVMH Prize 2016. That same year, he was awarded the Fashion Group International Rising Star award for womenswear, followed by the CFDA Swarovski Award in June.
