What is the BoF 500?

The BoF 500 is the definitive professional index of the people shaping the $2.4 trillion fashion industry, hand-selected by the editors of The Business of Fashion, based on hundreds of nominations received from current BoF 500 members, extensive data analysis and research.

Chinese model Fei Fei Sun has fronted international campaigns for a host of high profile luxury labels such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel Watches, Christian Dior, Prada and Calvin Klein . In 2012, Sun was also selected as the face of Valentino and covered the American Vogue as the first Asian model to hold these coveted positions.

Boasting a strong working relationship with photographers such as Steven Meisel , Peter Lindbergh , Daniel Jackson and Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot, Sun has featured regularly in editorials for international publications such as American Vogue, i-DInterview and T magazine. In January 2013, Sun landed her first international cover for Vogue Italia, once again becoming the first Asian model to land the prestige and has since featured on covers for Harper’s Bazaar Malaysia and Vogue Nippon.

Born in Weifang, Shandong, China, Sun made her modelling debut early, when she was scouted as a teenager. Upon graduating from the Suzhou University, Sun launched herself into the modelling world professionally. In 2008, Sun first emerged onto the international scene, representing China in Elite Model Look, one of the industry’s most influential modelling contests held by Elite Model Management. 19-year-old Sun had been awarded first place in the entry level contest and achieved third place in the world. Making her international catwalk debut in September 2009 at London Fashion Week for Mulberry, Sun was hand-selected by Karl Lagerfeld to walk in his Paris-Shanghai fashion show for Chanel in December 2009. By 2010, the model walked her first international runway show, booking Christopher Kane 's Fall ready-to-wear show in London. The model has since graced the catwalks for designers such as Jil Sander , Dries Van Noten , Céline, Hermès and Dior, dubbed the "model of the moment" alongside Karlie Kloss , Cara Delevigne and Joan Smalls as she graced the cover of American Vogue in 2014, as the first Asian model to do so.

In 2015, Sun attended the Met Gala for the second time, making it to Vogue.com's best-dressed list that year. A year later, Models.com updated Sun's ranking to feature her on its "Industry Icons" list, solidifying her status as a preferred industry star and supermodel. In 2017, she was also included in the website's "New Supers" and "Money Girl" list, for her high measure of influence, also fuelled by her Weibo following in the millions, and her strong relationships with fashion's highest paying clients. By 2019, the model has posed for the cover of dozens of magazine covers, featured in campaigns and walked for international shows for brands including Versace, Ralph Lauren , Estée Lauder, as one of china's most successful runway models.
