Joseph Dirand

Founder, Joseph Dirand Architecture

The Parisian architect has made a name for himself by creating stark, linear, monochromatic spaces for luxury brands like Chloé.

Biography

Joseph Dirand is an award-winning architect and interior designer. His ability to infuse light and space into his work has led to commissions from a range of fashion houses and designers, including Chloé, Pucci, Balmain, Rick Owens and Alexander Wang .

Chloé’s Parisian flagship is a symphony of soft shades, recessed contrasts and warm light. The marked difference between it and the proud austerity of Rick Owen’s store is indicative of both Dirand's range and inspirations.

Dirand has been featured in French Vogue, Le Figaro, Financial Times, Wallpaper and AD Collector. In 2010 he won the prestigious Wallpaper* Best New Hotel Award for Habitat Monterrey.

Dirand always dreamt of being an architect and an interior designer, he told Freunde von Freunden, “I am happy because this is my work and my life.” Dirand says that inspiration comes very quickly to him, and that “before a project is drawn it appears in flashes.”
