Karchun Leung

Former Editor-in-Chief, Numéro China & Modern Weekly

A respected cultural connector and tastemaker, he was tasked to lead Numéro magazine in his native China.

Biography

Karchun Leung began his foray into fashion by joining Hong Kong City Magazine in 2004 as senior fashion editor. He then rose though the publishing and media ranks of Mainland China to become editor-in-chief of Numéro China. Leung honed his craft as a writer for over half a decade at Modern Weekly magazine, eventually becoming its deputy editorial director. Modern Weekly’s parent Modern Media Group rebranded as Meta Media Holdings in 2022.

Drawing from a wide range of cross-cultural references, Leung was well-respected as an interviewer. His work highlighting Chinese fashion internationally began in 2012 as Shanghai correspondent for Dazed Digital’s Satellite Voices column. He also collaborated with 10 Corso Como Shanghai to highlight emerging talent via a programme of talks and features in Fashion China, a book profiling Chinese brands, which was released in 2015.

Leung  also acted as a retail consultant for various brands in China and collaborated with Chinese multi-brand retailer Dong Liang for a design showcase during Shanghai Fashion Week.
