The Colombian reggaetón star with more than 45 million Instagram followers has made a bold foray into the global fashion world with his experimental style, striking a partnership with Dsquared2 along the way.


Juan Luis Londoño, known by his stage name Maluma, is a Colombian reggaetón singer who is widely recognised as fashion’s Latin menswear muse. Partnering with Jeremy Scott on a sparkly-tasselled suit, the singer-songwriter garnered much attention within the fashion industry at the Camp-themed Met Gala in 2019. With Dsquared2 and Dolce & Gabbana partnerships under his belt alongside four studio albums, the reggaetón star has sat front row at shows including Louis Vuitton, JW Anderson and Off-White.

In his teenage years, Maluma would write songs upon request for his friends, a hobby that later turned into a passion for song writing that would see him sign a contract with Sony Music in 2011. In 2012, the burgeoning singer and rapper achieved star-status as his debut studio album “Magia” topped the Columbian charts, while his national tour covered the United States two years later.

Maluma first ventured into the fashion world with the release of his own clothing line in 2015, solely available in Colombia. When the singer released “Medellín,” named after his hometown featuring Madonna in April 2019, he made headlines for the suspenders he wore in the music video. In 2018 he performed at the Dolce & Gabbana Autumn/Winter 2018 show and struck a partnership with Dsquared2 to design looks for his worldwide tour. A year later, Maluma attended Paris men’s fashion week shows including Louis Vuitton, Off-White, Heron Preston and Dsquared2, where he was notably snapped alongside Dior’s Kim Jones and Olivier Rousteing .

Maluma cites Lenny Kravitz as a style inspiration and he looks to bolster his music career with fashion ventures. With 44 music awards in his repertoire, the reggaetón star has also announced plans to try his hand at acting, having been cast alongside Jennifer Lopez in a 2020 romantic comedy titled “Marry Me.”
