What is the BoF 500?

The BoF 500 is the definitive professional index of the people shaping the $2.4 trillion fashion industry, hand-selected by the editors of The Business of Fashion, based on hundreds of nominations received from current BoF 500 members, extensive data analysis and research.

Recipients of the British Council's 2014 Young Creative Entrepreneur in China award, the trio are the founders at Dong Liang.

The multi-brand concept store dedicated to showcasing Chinese designers was founded in Beijing and has since expanded to Shanghai, from five to twenty designers stocked in store.

Dong Liang rides on the pioneering wave of Chinese committed concept stores –– marrying a supply of fashion designers educated overseas with an audience straying away from conspicuous luxury brands. Founded in 2009, Dong Liang follows the opening of ONE by ONE Studio in 2003, and precedes WUHAO, launched in 2010. Running alongside the aforementioned are Mian Hua Tian, Anchoret Beijing, and OOAK, conceptual stores making international independent fashion designers accessible to China.

The six-year-old retailer, founded in Beijing before its expansion to Shanghai, has since collaborated with H.Lorenzo, Farfetch.com, and Airbnb. They were also the first Chinese multi-brand retailer invited to show at London Fashion Week in September 2013. At Shanghai Fashion Week, Dong Liang has a dedicated day per season to present catwalk shows.
