ArtEZ University of the Arts is a vocational university spread across seven locations in the Netherlands. However, with only 12 students in its MA Fashion Design programme, the small class size allows for highly individualised coaching and a student to faculty ratio of 3:1. Alongside the MA Fashion Design programme, the school offers a programme in MA Fashion Strategy, which focuses on industry context and research. Students in our survey reported they were very satisfied with the institution’s campus and resources, as well as with the quality of teachers and peers. Points of strength in the school’s curriculum include courses in technical skills and sustainability. According to student comments, the school places great emphasis on preparing students for life outside of school, as well as focuses on the future of fashion. However, the students reported they were not satisfied with the school’s course offerings in business, management and digital technology. ArtEZ’s student cohort is extremely international, with 90 percent of students attending from outside of the country.

Student & Alumni Comments
"The school has a very big and well-equipped workspace. The program is based on the future of fashion and prepares its students for the "real" world - once they graduate, they know how and where to continue their path as designers."
"The school was a great learning environment. With special attention to fashion theory, it was a great addition to my BA. We had a very inspiring international class. "
"Deeply personal journey (RollerCoaster!) of getting to know my own unique qualities (and weaknesses!..) preparing me to position myself as an independent designer in the international High End fashion world."
"Benefits and drawbacks to a small course community. You sacrifice opportunities to collaborate and be inspired, but gain the personal attention and development needed to suceeed. "
