Design School Kolding

Kolding, Denmark

Design School Kolding is an international talent workshop for Danish design offering courses in fashion and design. The school has a low acceptance rate at 9 percent, but is not especially diverse—the student body consists of 90 percent Danish students and is predominantly female. Our survey showed strong results regarding students’ contentment with the institution’s campus and resources. The school’s rating of technical skills and sustainability courses were amongst the highest in our ranking. However, because of the design-focused curriculum, the school’s marketing and business course offerings were ranked the lowest. Students were generally content with the quality of their peers and instructors. Student comments praised the diverse study paths available within the curriculum.

Student & Alumni Comments

"The curriculum is very free and it is up to the student to what extent the will develop their studies and make use of the resources. This results in a very versatile student body with various study paths."

Student

"The school wants us to be experts in too many areas, which in my opinion is impossible. Experts in pattern making, sewing, new technologies, drawing, sustainability, materials, trend forecasting, concept development, business and marketing with more. Maybe its needs, on a bigger scale, to define all the different kinds of designers working in the industry, and upon that build new departments with even more specialised people."

Student

"It's an amazing school with great workspaces and a lot of creative freedom. I as a student get to dive into everything I dream about and I can shuffle between textile, illustration and fashion. I only wish there was a more international focus."
