The Swedish School of Textiles offers undergraduate and graduate programmes combining textile technology, design, management and entrepreneurship. Under the direction of experienced technicians, design students are given the opportunity to realise their textile designs in a lab environment—about 90 percent of students in our survey expressed they were satisfied with the school’s workrooms and resources. The BA student cohort is heavily female and not open to the international community. In contrast, the MA student cohort is open to the international community, and one-third of the MA student cohort is from out of the country. Indeed, undergraduate students expressed they were dissatisfied with the school’s gender and international diversity, while graduate students were satisfied with the level of diversity. With the exception of MA technical courses, students’ ratings of the school’s courses were above average across the board in comparison to the ratings of other schools in our survey.

Student & Alumni Comments
"Overall great experience, with extremely knowledgeable teachers and amazing access to technical aspects such as a large machine park, colour labs, etc. The students are very motivated, ambitious and talented, which further added to the experience. The only downside I can think of is that there was not enough interaction with companies within the industry during my education."
"The resources at the school are amazing, however I was unlucky with several teachers of the course, they did not fulfil my expectations. Guest lectures were numerous and practical insights were good!"
"It was a good mix between hands on/practical courses and theoretical courses. The school has a large number of machines used in teaching, which gives a great insight into the industry. Great teachers when I was a student there, and they also offer a rather good exchange programme. After I graduated, the school moved to a newly renovated building that holds better facilities than when I went there. However, the school is located in a city that does not have much to offer."
"Creatively fulfilling. Challenging but enlightening in the end. Very well equipped workshops for weaving, knitting, printing and tailoring. Technicians are very skilled and very willing to help you bring even the most crazy ideas to life."
