Housed in the heart of Geneva, originally built in the 19th century as a school for the industrial arts, Geneva University of Art and Design or Haute Ecole d'Art et Design de Genève (HEAD) offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in art and design. The school's campus and resources, which include large workshop rooms and textile machinery, achieved high scores in our survey. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students rated the school's marketing, business, digital technology and sustainability courses far below average, while technical skills courses were rated above average. Other noted areas for improvement include the school's career services and quality of recruiters. However, 94 percent of students were satisfied with the quality of the student body, and 88 percent were satisfied with their teachers.
"HEAD has amazing materials and workspaces. There is not much support from the school for the students' projects, it costs a lot of money to be able to produce a big collection in Geneva...The school is not branded yet in terms of style, which is great for the diversity of the school. Everybody can really push forward their own universe."
"I found the body of students and teachers to be very high quality, but the course content was not consistent. I felt ill-equipped to start my own business as the commercial teaching was minimal. "
