Global Fashion School Rankings 2017

RMIT University

Melbourne, Australia

RMIT's school of fashion offers undergraduate, postgraduate, doctorate and vocational courses. With multiple campuses in Australia, Vietnam and Spain, RMIT delivers what it calls multi-channel education, offering online learning opportunities and 'work-integrated learning,' taught in real and simulated working environments. The institute is popular and places for classes are competitive, just over a quarter of applicants are accepted into the Bachelor of Fashion Design Programme (Honours). RMIT's postgraduate programme is also becoming increasingly competitive with the number of applications increasing significantly in the last year. All undergraduate students undertake internships, however, they also have expressed discontent and suggest improvement within the university's careers services. Overall, students felt prepared for the industry and gave positive feedback on faculty and learning facilities, with students ranking resources at RMIT highly. Graduates from RMIT's Masters of Fashion (Entrepreneurship) performed well in regards to their ability to get a job post graduation. Strong student experience scores also buoyed the overall ranking of the school.

Student & Alumni Comments

"I am loving my experience at school, I meet motivated students and talented entrepreneurs everyday! Teachers are really good and help students when needed. It's a great school to really focus your mind to be commercially creative. "

Student

"Great learning quality with an industrial-practice approach and good organizational and networking opportunities."

Alumni

"I have found the BA course well balanced subject-wise. The choice of classes we are given each semester allows students to work in a wide variety of ways over the course of the four years. The elective classes are also great and give us the chance to explore other skills and interests alongside our main studio work. The course has a fantastic range of teachers who encourage creativity, individuality and innovation, while equipping students with strong technical skills. "
