Textile research scientists at the the Philippines Textile Research Institute of the Department of Science and Technology’s Silk Research and Innovation Center (SRIC) have reared four new silkworm hybrids, Fibre2Fashion reports.

The work could lead to the availability of new strains for the production of silk yarns and fabrics with higher productivity. Rearing activities with the same hybrids will continue throughout the year and are expected to provide more information to conclude verification before they are official launched for commercial use at the end of 2021.
