The 23-year-old poet and activist caught the attention of the fashion world after speaking at the US presidential inauguration in January and was subsequently signed to IMG Models.

The cover, shot by Annie Leibovitz and styled by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, features Gorman wearing Louis Vuitton by Virgil Abloh in a look celebrating the artistic director’s African heritage, Vogue said in the caption of its Instagram post of the cover.
