Rochelle Pinto, the Mumbai-based founding editor of digital publication Tweak India, will lead Vogue India as its new head of editorial content, Condé Nast India said Thursday.

Pinto, a former digital editor at the Indian editions of GQ and Elle magazines, succeeds Megha Kapoor, who exited her position as head of editorial content at Vogue India in August. Kapoor had occupied the top editorial job at Vogue’s Indian edition since September 2021 following the ouster of founding editor Priya Tanna as part of a major restructuring at parent company Condé Nast. In recent years, Condé Nast has eliminated editor-in-chief roles at most of Vogue’s international editions in a push to streamline editorial operations and cut costs.

The appointment comes as fashion brands ramp up their focus on India’s fast-growing luxury market.

Pinto, who hails from the Indian state of Goa and started her journalism career at the Hindustan Times, said she hopes to “champion new talent, reflect the zeitgeist and celebrate the spirit of this uniquely diverse country.” In her new role, effective October 23, she will be responsible for “overseeing the vision and content across all platforms for the brand in India,” Condé Nast said.
