The first of the e-commerce behemoth’s large-scale retail locations will open in the US and include everything from household items to clothing, according to The Wall Street Journal. Although Amazon already operates physical retail locations, they are much smaller and are often found in high-traffic urban areas. The existing Amazon stores include bookstores and tech-focused shops, while the new, department store-sized outposts are expected to include fashion and clothing, among them Amazon’s private label products.

Amazon is already a major apparel retailer online, but it has struggled to gain traction with fashion brands. Brands like Oscar de la Renta joined Amazon’s luxury fashion hub, which is so far invite-only. The e-commerce giant’s move to a large, physical retail store network also comes at a time when many fashion and beauty brands are doubling down on their owned sales channels, rather than on wholesale relationships.
