The contemporary brand, owned by Vince Holding Corp., has extended its rental subscription service, Vince Unfold, to male customers, the company announced Sept. 17.
Vince joins a small but growing number of retailers that offer rental to men. Others include streetwear-focused startups The Rotation and Seasons, as well as Scotch & Soda’s Scotch Select rental programme, which is powered by the same platform behind Vince Unfold, Caastle.
“As we return to a modicum of normalcy, we anticipate the demand for rental to continue to grow and the introduction of men’s to the Unfold program will
help us appeal to the widest audience possible,” Vince chief executive Jack Schwefel said in a statement.
Vince launched its rental initiative in 2018, offering customers an unlimited plan with four pieces rented at a time for $160 per month. Its new men’s vertical will operate exactly the same. Earlier this year, Vince also began offering one-off rentals with a new feature called “Borrow” that doesn’t require a monthly subscription.
Covid-19 crushed the market for fashion rentals, but platforms are betting that pent-up demand for social events and sustainability will boost post-pandemic business.
