Doboczky will step down on Sept. 30 after he and the fiber manufacturing company agreed to end his contract, Lenzing said in a statement today. Cord Prinzhorn, chief executive of Australian paper manufacturer Prinzhorn Group, has been appointed interim CEO. Prinzhorn is a member of Lenzing’s supervisory board and is expected to hold the post until a successor is found.

Doboczky recently informed the company’s supervisory board that he will not be available for another extension of his contract, a statement from the company noted. The 80-year-old company, which supplies the global textile and nonwovens industry with Lyocell, Modal & Viscose fibers, had reappointed Doboczky to the top post in 2017. His new contract began on June 1, 2018 and was expected to run until the end of 2022.

Lenzing remains on track to meet its financial guidance for the full year 2021, the company said. Lenzing had recently been making progress in its efforts toward greater supply chain transparency. It uses renewable raw material wood — more than 99 percent of its wood comes from sustainably managed forests — to produce pulp for its fibers and biorefinery products and co-products.
