Agenda-setting intelligence, analysis and advice for the global fashion community.
LONDON, United Kingdom — Everyone has their own fashion story. This week's Creative Class story on photographer Alasdair McLellan by Rebecca May Johnson underlines this truth about people working in the fashion business.
Indeed, one of the ideas behind this series, featuring the top creatives working in fashion today, is to have them tell us, in their own words, how they first discovered their interest in fashion and also how they found their role within it.
Alasdair, who shot the Victoria Beckham cover of our special second print edition, shares a particularly sweet fashion story of how he first started taking photographs and how he persisted, with encouragement from a friend in the form of fashion editor Jo-Ann Furniss, in taking photographs even when it seemed like he would be an assistant for ages.
Today, McLellan is one of the industry's most respected lensmen and we are grateful that he so honestly shared his story with us. It's a real lesson and inspiration that persistence — combined with talent — can really pay off.
