The Parisian brand named K-pop septet Enhypen its first global ambassadors, The Korea Herald reports, while the Italian luxury player has tapped Korean singer and dancer Seulgi.
Enhypen, which has been active since 2020 and was formed through the competition reality show I-Land, consists of members Heeseun, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon and Ni-ki. Seulgi is a member of the K-pop girl group Red Velvet. Alongside Seulgi, Salvatore Ferragamo has also appointed Chinese actress Jelly Lin global ambassador.
Ami and Ferragamo are just two of many designer brands tapping into the global appetite for Korean stars. Alongside Valentino and Tiffany & Co, which appointed Son Ye-jin and Blackpink’s Rosé as ambassadors in recent months, cultural sensation BTS were named Louis Vuitton’s house ambassadors in April.
Local streetwear brands, festivals and stores selling major global labels remain relatively small but the country’s community of hypebeasts and sneakerheads is growing fast.
