Piergiorgio Del Moro
Casting Director
Launching his career in China and Japan, the eminent Italian casting director selects models for the likes of Versace, Fendi and Dries Van Noten.
Beginning his career in China and Japan, the top casting agent — relied upon by the likes of Saint Laurent, Dries Van Noten and Givenchy — has become one of fashion’s most sought-after names. The casting expert has a knack for spotting emerging faces, as well as talent in the casting industry; he took fashion student Samuel Ellis Scheinman, now an accomplished casting director in his own right, under his wing to assist with Milan Fashion Week.
Growing up in a small village outside of Rome, Del Moro’s family was initially disapproving of his decision to embark on a career in fashion. Upon finishing his studies in law and establishing a fashion production company, Del Moro began as a casting agent in 2010. Although Del Moro’s current work has little relation to his academic background in law, he says he is able to run his business more efficiently and bring more diplomacy to his work as a result.
Moving to New York with the assistance of his only friend in the city, Patti Wilson, Del Moro began at the Italian design house Ermanno Scervino. Shortly afterwards, Del Moro established DM Fashion Studio and began casting for Carine Roitfeld ’s “CR Fashion Book.”
Today, Del Moro is at the casting helm of a diverse range of brands, including the likes of Alexander Wang , Fendi, Giorgio Armani , Loewe, Louis Vuitton, Versace and Saint Laurent.
Through his rapid ascent, Del Moro has worked with numerous international Vogue editions, boasting dozens of covers. Lauded for his versatile eye for talent, Del Moro’s wide definition of beauty has enabled him to engineer creative pairings that have shaped the industry’s advertising, runway and editorial landscape. He is currently represented by Exposure NY.
