Kogi is an influential menswear tastemaker and fashion curator based in Tokyo. He first gained fame in fashion industry circles as the director of United Arrows & Sons, the menswear unit of the iconic Japanese multi-brand store chain United Arrows where he worked for over two decades. In recent years Kogi has expanded his repertoire from retail to fashion curation. Dubbed Japan’s “king of the collabs,” he helped bring to life Lacoste’s 90th Anniversary Campaign in 2023. Prior to that, he teamed up with artist Eric Haze and Sandra Choi , Jimmy Choo’s creative director, to design shoes, bags and hoodies. Kogi has also done collaborations with brands like Levi’s and Puma under his own personal brand PoggyTheMan, partnered with Italian accelerator Tomorrow, and led collaborations between Supreme’s head graphic designer and major Japanese fashion designers.
The Sapporo native is known for his eclectic personal style, mixing traditional suiting with sportswear and streetwear, as well as his love of hats. A favourite of street style photographers, Kogi was an early supporter of countless cult brands from overseas, and a champion of lesser-known Japanese brands. He has long been admired by streetwear enthusiasts like avid readers of Highsnobiety, Hypebeast and Complex. His opinion is also sought by high fashion menswear media outlets such as the international editions of GQ and Esquire.
