Stuart McCullough is the managing director of Woolmark and chief executive of the Australian Wool Innovation, a not for profit association of around 25,000 wool growers. McCullough has over 20 years of experience in the industry and has held a variety of roles at the AWI. Prior to becoming chief executive, McCullough had been responsible for leading strategic development, transition, establishment and growth of several AWI business units as well as core initiatives.
McCullough has been instrumental to the association’s efforts to bring attention to the fibre and underline its uses in the fashion industry and its rightful role in the luxury market. As managing director of Woolmark, he oversees the prestigious Woolmark Award, whose past winners include Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent, which continues to be an internationally reported upon award. Judging panels have included Donatella Versace , Franca Sozzani , Tim Blanks , Diane Von Furstenberg and Victoria Beckham .
After starting his career in wool as a jackeroo on a sheep farm, McCullough later moved on to business management roles engaged in all aspects of the wool producing and demand generating pipeline: wool classer, wool testing, international wool exporter, trader and buyer, and global sales management roles.
In 2016, McCullough was appointed a director of the Australian Fashion Chamber.
