Biography

Under Alberto Baldan’s leadership, La Rinascente emerged at the forefront of the fashion industry, grossing €595 million in 2015. Embracing young talent while hosting notable global personalities during events, La Rinascente has become synonymous with quality Italian heritage brands and international labels alike.

After graduating with a degree in Economics from the University ‘Ca Foscari’ of Venice, Baldan joined WFP Group and worked in retail management for two years. He then entered French multinational Promodès working in operational and management positions based in Italy and Spain.

Seven years later, he began working for the La Rinascente Group in 1996 as regional director. He left in 2003 to take on the role of chief executive officer of Conforama, the Italian subsidiary of what was then PPR Group, now known as Kering.

After four years at Kering, Baldan returned to La Rinascente — this time as managing director. He transitioned to the role of chief executive officer in 2012, helping to transform and expand La Rinascente’s presence as a retail leader in Italian fashion. In February 2017 it was announced that he was stepping away from La Rinascente to pursue opportunities outside the company. He now serves as chief executive of Grandi Stazioni Retail, which facilitates shopping experiences for passengers at 14 of Italy's biggest rail stations, a role he has held since his departure from La Rinascente in June 2017.
