Biography

Appointed as the global creative make-up and colour director for Chanel at the start of 2015, Pica is the first director since the departure of Peter Phillips to Dior. Known for her use of bold, jewel-like colours and statement lipsticks, Pica is part of a new generation of artists disrupting the makeup industry.

Born in Naples, Italy, Pica moved to London over a decade ago to pursue a dream of being a makeup artist that she had nurtured through her teenage years. After a training course at Greasepoint Make Up Academy, she started working as an assistant, landing a job with Charlotte Tilbury for three years.

Since the decision to work freelance in 2008, Pica has rapidly ascended the ranks, working with models like Kate Moss , Lara Stone, Cara Delevingne and Jordan Dunn and on editorials and covers for British Vogue, Vogue Paris, Vogue Italia, Interview, Dazed & Confused and i-D. Her advertorial portfolio includes brands such as Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Aquascutum and Louis Vuitton. Pica has also created runway looks for designers like Roksanda Ilincic, Henry Holland and Peter Pilotto.

Pica is often praised for her innovative use of colour palettes and thoroughly modern take on beauty, as well as her talent for creating natural, fresh-faced looks and impossibly dewy skin. She is part of a group of up-and-coming contemporaries, including Lisa Eldridge and Yadim, who are making waves from their newly appointed positions of power.

As Chanel’s first ever global creative makeup and colour director, she is responsible for developing new products for the beauty line, as well as playing a part in the creation for Chanel’s beauty campaigns and runway looks.
