Biography

Michael Burke is the chief executive and chairman of the LVMH Fashion Group and one of LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault ’s most trusted executives.

Burke has worked with Mr Arnault since 1986, before LVMH was formed. From the group’s founding, and throughout its expansion, Burke has held a variety of key positions at the group, including chief executive of Christian Dior Couture in the United States, chief executive of Louis Vuitton North America and chief executive of Fendi. Immediately prior to his current appointment to Louis Vuitton, Burke was chief executive of Bulgari.

In January 2023, LVMH announced a shift in roles. Burke stepped down as chief executive of Louis Vuitton, with  Pietro Beccari succeeding him. Burke has “extended Louis Vuitton’s lead over competitors and promoted the heritage of Louis Vuitton while anchoring it in modernity,” Bernard Arnault said in a statement. “The cultural strength of Louis Vuitton has been fully affirmed.” Burke continues to work for LVMH as an advisor to Arnault.

On June 16, 2016, Michael Burke was elected a member of the Management Board of the Fédération Française de la Couture. He is also a member of the LVMH executive committee. Burke lives in Paris with his wife and five children. 

In January 2024, LVMH announced Burke will become chief executive and chairman of the unit that houses Celine, Loewe, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs , Pucci and Kenzo, effective February 1.
