Biography

Ashish Dikshit is the managing director of Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL), an Indian company whose portfolio includes a nationwide chain of multi-brand stores selling global luxury brands, Indian designer and high street fashion labels and joint ventures with lifestyle and sportswear brands. Dikshit was instrumental in securing the company’s partnership with Galeries Lafayette which will see him launch branches of the French luxury department store in India (locations are planned in Mumbai and Delhi in 2024). In the early 2020s, Dikshit led ABFRL’s strategic investment in and acquisition of Indian designer brands such as Sabyasachi, Tarun Tahiliani , Shantnu & Nikhil, Masaba and Jaypore. He also oversees the company’s multi-brand retail chain, The Collective, which sells global brands such as Ferragamo and Emporio Armani in stores across a dozen Indian cities, and partnerships with international brands like Ralph Lauren , Reebok, Christian Louboutin

The company is part of the Aditya Birla Group, one of the country’s largest diversified conglomerates led by billionaire industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla. The group was established in 1857 around the cotton trade before it expanded to other sectors including textiles, metals, chemicals, telecoms, financial services and energy. Dikshit has over 30 years of experience in a variety of roles across industries and functions. He is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Indian Institute of Management and the Harvard Business School. He took over as managing director of Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited in February 2018.
