Biography

London-based photographer Josh Olins has quickly established himself as one of fashion’s most prolific and talented "new-gen’"photographers. Olins has shot for publications including US, French, British, Chinese and Japanese Vogue, Vanity Fair, V, V Man and i-D.

Olins is equally as successful commercially and has lensed campaigns for Balenciaga, Prada, Giorgio Armani , Louis Vuitton, Jil Sander , Aquascutum, Tommy Hilfiger , Adidas, H&M, Levis, Benetton, Gap, L’Oréal, Lancome and Topshop.

Renowned for the precise composition of his group shots, Olins says, “A lot of what I love in photography is composition and what better way to do that than fill your frame with multiple characters.” In addition to the strength of his composition, Olins’ photography is possessed of a naturalness that transcends setting and props, and consistently imbues his work with unaffected elegance.

While completing an art foundation course at Middlesex University, in which he specialised in photography, Olins began freelancing as an assistant in London. Entering his craft the old fashioned way, Olins “did then get accepted onto a further degree course but after showing a few people my work, I decided to take the assistant route. It seemed more suited to me.”
