Biography
From working as an intern in Teen Vogue’s fashion closets to leading its entire editorial and digital strategy as editor-in-chief, Lindsay Peoples Wagner is a trailblazer. Most recently, she has been appointed editor-in-chief of New York Magazine's The Cut.
Peoples Wagner rose to acclaim in August 2018 with her barnstorming piece Everywhere and Nowhere: What It's Really Like to Be Black and Work in Fashion, a collation of testimonies from over 100 black professionals and public figures across the fashion industry. Throughout her own career, which has included working at titles such as Style.com, Beauty and the Dirt and O, The Oprah Magazine, she has consistently covered topics of fashion and beauty through the lens of social justice, race and size inclusivity.
Peoples Wagner joined Teen Vogue as editor-in-chief in October 2018 from her previous role as fashion editor of The Cut since 2015. Replacing Phillip Picardi at the helm of the publication, she has bolstered its existing vision of astutely covering politics, social issues and inclusive sexual health advice alongside popular culture, fashion and beauty.
In 2017, she won the ASME Next award for outstanding achievement by magazine journalists under the age of 30.
Peoples Wagner returned to The Cut, New York Magazine's fashion-focused vertical, as editor-in-chief in 2021, establishing her position among a new cohort of editors-in-chief who came of age when print media was already declining.
