Biography

Formerly the men's editor of Pop magazine and Arena Homme+, Max Pearmain is a freelance editor, working with the likes of British Vogue, The Gentlewoman and W, and credited with expanding the appeal of menswear publications to a wider global audience.

After meeting the designer Anthony Symonds in 2016, the pair started working together. They showed their first presentation, Retail Baroque, in 2016, and they debuted their first runway show for Symonds Pearmain at London Fashion Week as a special guest at Fashion East’s AW18 show. Symonds Pearmain launched its e-commerce site in 2018 and stocks at Matches Fashion, with the duo showcasing their SS19 show at the luxury retailer's space, 5 Carlos Place. 

Born in Norwich, Permain was educated at the Slade School of Fine Art, where he earned a degree in fine art sculpture. A favourite of both luxury and high street labels, Pearmain’s styling has been employed for advertising campaigns by the likes of Chloé, Supreme, Calvin Klein , Acne Studios , Topman and Joseph, as well as showing on Burberry's catwalk.

The styling maven has also contributed to the likes of V Magazine, Vogue Italia, i-D and 032c. Additionally, he has collaborated with prominent photographers Tyrone Lebon , Alasdair McLellan and Jason Evans. 

Permain is represented by Rep Limited in London.
