Biography

Shin Kwang-ho is the editor-in-chief of Vogue Korea. Shin has helped the Condé Nast title stand out in South Korea’s saturated fashion media market thanks to well-timed castings of supermodels and up-and-coming celebrities. He has built strong relationships with K-pop and K-drama stars and their agents, investments that helped him secure covers which sometimes “broke the internet” in the country. Issues featuring the actress Hoyeon, G-Dragon, two members of Blackpink and Kim Tae-hyung (V) from BTS were particularly popular. Featuring these and other style icons in striking art direction has helped the magazine accrue more than 4 million followers on its Instagram account, a community that is more international in character than many other Korean-language media.

Shin began his fashion career at Jin Teok, a pioneering Korean designer brand. He transitioned to media in 2000 when GQ launched a Korean edition. Shin then moved to Vogue Korea in 2003 to work as a fashion news editor before being promoted to fashion news director in 2006, and digital director in 2010. He was appointed editor-in-chief of the title in 2015. Shin’s approach to editorial content has helped the magazine commercially, making it one of the top ten highest ranking glossy magazines in the world in terms of fashion, luxury and beauty advertising, according to a Q1 2023 report by data analytics firm Launchmetrics.
