Biography

By day, Tiziana Cardini is the retail director of department store La Rinascente; by night, she’s a fashion writer at Italian Vogue and Style.com, as well as contributing a reviewer for Vogue Runway. But Cardini is becoming increasingly well-known for her role behind the scenes as a supporter of young Italian fashion designers.

Previously fashion director at Amica and Italian Glamour, Cardini joined La Rinascente as fashion director in 2007 — a luxury Italian retail chain that has 11 departments stores across all of Italy’s major cities. Cardini is responsible for the store’s mix of brands and staging events aimed at strengthening the company’s image, which often draw on her background in architecture and knowledge of art and photography.

The influential position also allows her to scout new trends and upcoming talents in fashion and design, and Cardini is particularly passionate about introducing fresh brands to her customers. In the past she has also been part of the judging panel for ‘Who is on Next?,’ a competition to discover emerging talents in Italy. Cardini says her decisions to stock young designers like Stella Jean and Marco di Vincenzo have been successful. In particular, MSGM, a youthful contemporary label founded by Massimo Giorgetti in 2009 to which Cardini devoted an entire showcase, is one of the most successful performers at the store.
