Biography

Swedish actress Alicia Vikander's fresh-faced beauty and poise has received significant attention from the fashion industry over the last few years. Her roles in critically acclaimed films such as "Testament of Youth" and "Ex Machina" sparked the interest of a number of major fashion titles and she has been featured on the cover of American Vogue, Elle, LOVE, Porter, Interview and W magazines. She has also featured in a number of editorials, most notably for W Magazine shot by Willy Vanderperre and British Vogue shot by Tim Walker . Vikander is also a muse for Louis Vuitton's creative director, Nicolas Ghesquiere, and has starred in several campaigns for the storied French fashion house, including its Cruise 2016 campaign and its "Twist" handbag campaign, both shot by Patrick Demarchelier. 

Born in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1988 to a stage actress mother and psychiatrist father, Vikander trained from the age of nine with the Royal Swedish Ballet School in the hope of becoming a principal dancer. When an injury brought an end to this dream, she abandoned dance in favour of acting, with breakthrough roles in Joe Wright's "Anna Karenina" and the acclaimed Danish film, "A Royal Affair", which won her the BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actress and an Oscar following the latter film's debutIn early 2016, Vikander won the Academy Award for best supporting actress for her turn in "The Danish Girl".

The Swedish actress has cited the screenwriter and director, Lisa Langseth that cast Vikander for her first film at age 20 as a style mentor. She has also expressed a liking for the Swedish brands Acne Studios , Rodebjer and Totême. In 2019 alone, Vikander graced the covers of the Japanese, Chinese and Spanish editions of Vogue, Harper's Bazaar US.
