Biography

Praised for his analogue documentation of youth and fashion, photographer Colin Dodgson has been commissioned to shoot editorials by the likes of i-D, the Gentlewoman and Vogue. Hailed as a true auteur, the American photographer is known to capture his subjects in dreamy, urban, and minimal yet emotional environments.

Born in 1984 in Southern California, Dodgson moved to New York in 2006 and began making photographs about awkwardness and humour. In 2009, Dodgson put on an exhibition in an empty storefront in the Lower East Side. In 2011, he held another exhibition in a friend's apartment in Soho, New York.

Dodgson, who learnt his craft through analogue media, is praised for igniting a film renaissance in fashion photography alongside fellow photographers Jamie Hawkesworth , Zoë Ghertner and Harley Weir .

To date, he has photographed advertising campaigns for Bally, Gucci and DKNY.  Over the years his dreamy photographic aesthetic has been featured on covers and editorials of high-profile publications including Document Journal, W Magazine, British Vogue, T Magazine, Gentlewoman, i-D,  Re-Edition Magazine, Love, Another, V Man, American Vogue, Dazed, Pop Magazine, Oyster and Arena Home.

In 2018 Dodgson's first solo gallery show, "Safety, Service and Security,” opened in Marseille, curated by Matt Williams.

Today, the photographer spends time traveling between New York and London for work. He is represented by Art Partner.
